Punters will soon be able to combine a swift pint at their local with a gadget-making session.

Instead of the traditional jukebox and slot machine entertainment, The Boar’s Head pub in Horsham is launching a new type of evening attraction – where customers can produce their own creations on a 3D printer.

The Worthing Road pub hopes to add its name to a string of pubs with unique attractions for its customers when it unveils the equipment next month.

One of the newest gadgets to hit the market, the printer costs between £2,000 and £3,000.

It allows users to realise their designs on materials such as plastic, which can then be assembled.

Manager Jo Leaver said buying a 3D printer was the idea of landlord Peter Van der Borgh, who had been interested in the piece of kit for a while.

She said: “He thought it would be a good idea for a club at the pub, where people can come and be creative. Peter is very entrepreneurial and it’s quite a unique idea.

“We will be able to teach visitors to the pub how to use it and it could be quite a fun club.”

Mrs Leaver said Mr Van der Borgh thought the weekly club would be of special interest to young people.

She said: “The club is open to everyone and people can make anything with the printer, such as presents, gifts or toys.”

It is hoped the club will become a regular addition to the pub’s weekly entertainment programme, which also includes quiz nights.

The club launches on Monday, October 6, from 6pm.

New pub ‘game’

The Boar's Head is not the first pub to install a unique attraction in Brighton and Hove.

The Mash Tun in Church Street, Brighton, has installed a celebrity sweepstake, known as the Wall of Death, where people place bets on which famous face will die next as they wait for their order.

The Grand Central pub in Surrey Street boasts the Nightingale Theatre run by the Prodigal Theatre Company.
