MUSICAL students will take to the streets to raise money for a hospice.

A charity busking day and concert will take place on Saturday in aid of St Wilfrid’s Hospice for the start of National Hospice Care Week.

The event is the first of a number of planned projects initiated by the newly formed Eastbourne Schools Partnership.

The partnership between Sussex Downs College and Eastbourne schools sees them offer exciting and creative opportunities for young people.

Kara Bishop, chief executive of St Wilfrid’s Hospice, said: “What a great project.

“Schools and local musicians will brighten the day for local people and support a local charity.

“Thank you to all the organisers, the schools, the musicians, the chamber of commerce, the Birley Centre and all the people who support so generously.”

Young people from Cavendish School, Eastbourne College, Moira House, Ratton School, Sussex Downs College and Willingdon School will entertain from 10am to 4pm on Saturday in various locations across Eastbourne town centre, including the top of the Wish Tower from 10am to 1pm.

There will also be a pavement artist working throughout the afternoon.

A charity concert at the Birley Centre at 7pm will feature the young artists who have busked throughout the day.

All the schools involved will be represented.

Admission is free but donations are encouraged in aid of St Wilfrid’s Hospice.
