A MAN is wanted for a pair of arson attacks, one of which saw two people rescued by firefighters.

Thomas White, 23, is wanted on suspicion of an arson at an address in Acacia Road, Eastbourne, on September 19, when a wheelie bin was set on fire outside, and of arson with intent to endanger life at the same address on September 29 when the front door of a flat was set alight.

On the second occasion a man and a woman were rescued by the fire service and treated at the scene by paramedics for the effects of smoke inhalation.

White, from Hailsham, who is described as white and of heavy build, with blue eyes and brown hair, is also wanted for breaching a court-issued restraining order and on suspicion of harassment, all of which relate to domestic abuse incidents which are currently under investigation.

He also has links to the Salford area of Greater Manchester and police are making enquiries there as well as in Eastbourne and Hailsham.

Detective Constable Natalie Brown of the East Sussex Safeguarding Investigation Unit said; "The outcome of the second fire could have been far worse had not the fire service installed a smoke alarm system after the first incident.
