A MAN who has already been charged with sex offences has now appeared in court accused of several others.

Andrew Hocking, 57, of Gorse Close, Copthorne, was charged in November last year with offences relating to allegedly indecent images of children between 2009 and 2011, and also with sexual offences against a girl in Alveston, Thornbury, Avon, more than 36 years ago.

These were: four offences of indecent assault against a girl known to him, who was then aged seven, in Alveston during 1976 and 1977, and 11 offences of making indecent images of children between 1997 and 2011, and with one offence of possessing an extreme pornographic image in 2011.

All the indecent images offences are alleged to have been committed in West Sussex.

He has now been charged with rape and indecent assault on a 12-year-old girl known to him at his then address in Fareham, Hampshire, between 1982 and 1984.

All the charges were put to Hocking, who is on court bail, at Lewes Crown Court yesterday.

A plea and case management hearing was set for the same court on December 22.

There are currently no other allegations of contact offending and none of the images are believed to be of local children.

Detective Constable Chris Smith said: “The investigation continues and we would be particularly interested in speaking to anyone who knew Hocking's family while they were in Fareham, in the early 1980s.
