TWO courageous young cancer survivors are joining forces with singer Nicole Scherzinger to perform in front of millions of TV viewers this week.

Bella Scriven and Luca Canonici are among 20 members of a specially formed choir set up for Cancer Research UK’s Stand Up to Cancer Campaign.

The campaign, designed to accelerate cancer treatments for UK patients and save lives, ends tomorrow but there will be a star-studded live show on Channel 4.

All the children in the choir have been treated for cancer and their performance will highlight the importance of raising money to translate research into life-saving treatments.

Bella, nine, from Seaford, finished treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukaemia six weeks ago.

Brave She was diagnosed in June 2012 after falling ill when she was on holiday with her family in Tenerife.

The youngster, a pupil at Cradle Hill Primary School, was able to have chemotherapy close to home at the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital in Brighton and responded well to treatment.

Her mother Kirstin, 38, said: “Bella has done fantastically well throughout her chemo-therapy and has been so brave.

“She has a needle phobia but the team at the Alexandra were so supportive and helped us every step of the way.

“I’m sure I will feel very emotional watching on the night thinking about everything she has been through and how far she has come.

Bella said: “It was great fun rehearsing as part of the choir and I’m really looking forward to meeting Nicole Scherzinger and appearing on TV.”

Luca, 11, from Gossops Green, Crawley, was also treated for acute lymphoblastic leukaemia after being diagnosed when he was six years old.

The Juventus and Crawley Town fan went through more than three years of gruelling treatment and has now been in remission for a year and a half.
