LABOUR would win back the seats of Hove, Hastings and Rye and Brighton Kemptown if an election was held today, according to the latest polls.
Labour are polling at 37% in Hove, up 4% on the last election, and marginally ahead of the Conservatives on 34% where sitting MP Mike Weatherley is standing down at the election.
The latest poll of 1,000 residents has been carried out by the Tory peer Lord Ashcroft of 11 Conservative-Labour marginal seats.
Brighton Kemptown, where Simon Kirby is the sitting MP, will also be a close-run thing according to the poll. Labour are currently on 37% of the vote and the Conservatives on 33%, Ukip predicted to make a major surge to third-party status in the constituency with 13% of the vote compared with only 3% in 2010.
In Hastings and Rye, the poll predicts Tory MP Amber Rudd will lose her seat with 31% of the vote compared with 40% for Labour, with another Ukip boost to 19% of the vote compared with 3% last time.
