Volunteers turned up in their dozens for a beach clean on Sunday.
Around 50 people took to Rottingdean beach for the latest Surfers Against Sewage event.
They were joined by Brighton Kemptown MP, Simon Kirby, as they filled eight bin liners with everything from old tents to broken glass.
Alistair Feest, from Surfers Against Sewage, described the event as a huge success.
He said: “There is a really good strong community here and we had a great turnout. In all we probably had about 50 people.
“Marine litter is a real problem not just here but globally and it was great to see so many people taking action.
“We picked up everything from old fishing equipment and beer bottles to clothing and a tent.”
Surfers Against Sewage was set up in Cornwell in an attempt to deal with marine litter.
