A woman had her bag and laptop snatched as she walked along the seafront.

Detectives are seeking a hooded man who snatched the bag and its contents from a 24-year-old woman on Brighton seafront at about 7.15pm on Sunday.

The victim, who lives in Brighton, was walking on the Lower Esplanade towards the subway that links the esplanade to West Street. As she approached the subway she was pushed to the ground from behind and her shoulder bag was stolen. Inside the bag was a purple coloured laptop containing university course work.

The attacker is described as wearing a black hooded top with the hood up, grey jogging bottoms and black trainers which had white colouring on the heel.

The victim sustained a graze to her hand when she fell to the ground.

Detective Sergeant Simon Dunn, of Sussex Police, said: "We are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident. In particular we would like to talk to a woman passer-by who helped the victim to her feet and assisted her through the underpass to West Street."
