A university lecturer is in the running for the world’s richest sports writing prize.
University of Brighton senior lecturer and sports journalist Rob Steen has been named on a seven author shortlist for the William Hill Sports Book of the Year Award which comes with a £26,000 prize.
Mr Steen has been nominated again for the prize this time for his latest publication Floodlights and Touchlines which tells the history of spectator sport.
A judging panel of former footballer Clarke Carlisle; broadcasters John Inverdale and Danny Kelly, Sunday Times journalist Hugh McIlvanney and author Alyson Rudd.
The winner will be announced at an afternoon reception at BAFTA in London on Thursday November 27.
