YOUNGSTERS marvelled at more than 1,000 winter vegetables assembled in the shape of flying Spitfires.

The 20 foot-by-11 foot display of pumpkins, squashes, marrows and gourds took ten days to put together.

The renowned annual display at Slindon Farm this year marks the 75th anniversary of the Spitfire coming into service and the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings.

Local land artist Mark Ford created the awesome work with helpers.

Slindon Pumpkins owner Robin Upton, whose father, Ralph Upton, started the annual festival, said: "Everybody says it is the best display they have ever seen.

We hope to keep it there until mid-November."

The display is open daily from 10am until 5pm. Slindon Pumpkins is at 4 Top Road, Slindon, Arundel, BN1 80RP.
