THIS year’s TEDx event is set to be the biggest yet, writes TOM BARLOW-BROWN.

TEDx Brighton – a spin-out of the world-popular TED conferences – takes place tomorrow.

Ahead of the event organiser Sam Orams described his excitement at moving to a bigger venue to allow more people to attend.

The event was originally held in the Corn Exchange but has now moved to the Dome Concert Hall next door.

Mr Orams said: “We’ve got some great speakers this year which we’re particularly looking forward to such as Peter James, the crime author, who will be talking about the development of his character Roy Grace.”

Other speakers include artist and activist Sam Roddick, daughter of Bodyshop founder Anita Roddick, and trans activist Fox Fisher.

TEDx events are independently organised, volunteer-run and not-for-profit with any money made during this year’s event to be reinvested into next year.

Meanwhile organisers have been surveying ticket holders with the help of speaker Karl Mattingly on topics such as house prices.

The aim is to see if ‘the wisdom of crowds’ can accurately predict the future.

The theme of this year will be connectivity, convergence and community, and will explore the relationship between technology and community. Tickets are still on sale in limited numbers.
