A TALENTED photographer at The Argus has won a major award.
Liz Finlayson was yesterday crowned News Photographer of the Year at the EDF Energy London and South of England media awards.
Judges were impressed by Liz's trio of entries including a snap of Her Majesty the Queen during a visit to Newhaven last year, a picture of an artist who covered the walls of his flat with 250 pictures of David Cameron and a perfectly-timed picture of a soaring owl delivering a wedding ring to a ceremony.
Liz was up against media colleagues Paul Collins and Stuart Martin, both of the Southern Daily Echo in Southampton.
Speaking from the award ceremony, Liz said: “It's the first award I've ever won so I'm really chuffed, very happy.
“I think my most memorable picture of the three is the one with the guy's David Cameron collection because it was quite weird being in a room full of the PM's pictures.
“There's lots of wine on the table so I'll be sure to celebrate properly.”
The Argus editor Michael Beard said: “It's a thoroughly deserved award for Liz.
“Everyone at the paper knows what a talent she is and we can't wait to congratulate her for the success.”
