BUS drivers have accepted a pay offer after they threatened to strike.

Brighton and Hove Bus Company confirmed today following further negotiations with the UNITE trade union and re-ballot of staff a pay offer has been accepted.

As a result planned strike action has been suspended.

Martin Harris, managing director of the bus company, said: “I am very pleased for our staff and for our customers we have concluded a very satisfactory pay award for all concerned.

“This also enables us to collectively focus our efforts on behalf of our customers, many of whom are experiencing disruption to services due to the widespread impact of the major roadworks at the moment.”

Unite regional officer Janet Henney declined to comment in detail but confirmed the offer had been accepted.
