DOCTOR Who and his companions will be coming to Brighton to help raise money for charity.

Tom Baker, the fourth doctor, will be the special guest at the Timey Wimey One convention this weekend along with other famous faces from the show’s 50 year history.

The actresses who played Leela, Zoe, Nyssa and Ace from the classic series will be offering autograph and photo opportunities throughout the day tomorrow at the Thistle Hotel on King’s Road.

They will also give live on stage interviews and provide live commentary on some of their episodes.

The voice of robot dog K9, John Leeson, will also attend along with Nigel Fairs, one of the writers and actors in the Doctor Who audio plays. The event will also feature a host of The Doctor’s enemies including Daleks and Cybermen. Proceeds from autograph sales and the merchandise auction will be going to the Domestic Abuse Volunteer Support Services (DAVSS) charity and the Brighton-based abuse charity Rise. The event was set up by Louise Jameson, the actress who played Leela and a patron of DAVSS, and Matt Evenden, the director of Timey Wimey Events.

Mr Evenden said: “The idea came from Louise as she normally attends these events and thought it would be good to host one to raise money for DAVSS.”

Brighton was used as filming location in classic episodes of the show such as The War Games, The Leisure Hive and Mindwarp.

Mr Evenden said: “There is a huge following here and traditionally it has been one of the homes of Doctor Who and they used to film here quite often.”

The event runs from 10am to 7pm and will be chaired by comedian and Doctor Who fan Toby Hadoke.

Tickets cost £100 and include entry into all panels and interviews, with the chance to meet the stars.

They are available at www.timeywimeyevents.com until midday today or available on the door until 9.30am.
