A VALUABLE chalice, believed to have been taken from a church, was found in a car stopped by police.
The yellow metal chalice, which has purple beaded jewels on it in a cross shape, was found when officers stopped the vehicle in Dyke Road, Brighton.
A 63-year old Horsham man was arrested on suspicion of dishonest handling and possession of an offensive weapon, a lock knife.
He is currently on police bail until December 17 while enquiries continue.
The chalice was found on September 13 but Sussex Police released the information today.
PC Kathryn Waterman said: “If you know who this chalice belongs to, please contact us via 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call us on 101, quoting serial 0722 of 13/09.”
