Two men are on the run after allegedly robbing two men at their home, sparking an armed police search in the town centre.

The pair ran off into High Street following the attack shortly after 5pm at the house in St James's Mews, Kemp Town, Brighton, police said.

One of their victims was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital to be treated for minor injuries, while the other victim was unharmed. Both victims are in their thirties.

Sussex Police is treating the incident as isolated, a spokesman said.

The first suspect is described as a white man, aged 20-25, of proportionate build and with dark hair.

He was wearing a grey hoodie and black shorts.

The second suspect is described as a white man, aged 30 to 35, about 5'11" and of average build.

He was wearing a white hoodie and dark trousers and had cropped hair.

Armed police searched flats around the corner in Camelford Street after a possible sighting of one of the suspects, but it is understood neither was found.

One resident of those flats said she and other occupants had been ordered to wait outside while about 20 armed police searched.

She said the officers had detained two men before releasing them after apparently making checks in the police car.

Ardingly Street leading onto St James's Mews was cordoned off by police while forensics officers gathered evidence, reopening shortly before 8pm.
