Police have issued an efit of a man they want to talk to in connection with the sexual assault of a woman in Lewes.

Officers said the 21-year-old woman was walking on the pathway above Winterbourne Hollow at 6.40pm on Saturday, December 13, when a man approached her and grabbed her thigh and buttocks, speaking to her as he did.

When she told him to leave her alone, he moved in front of her and grabbed at her bottom again, until she ran off up the road towards the prison crossroads.

He ran off down the Hollow towards Winterbourne, verbally abusing her as he left, police added.

He is described as white, middle-aged, around 5' 7" with short hair that was 'lighter' in colour. He was wearing a yellow hi-vis jacket with darker clothing under and possibly, jeans. He spoke with a local accent and carried what appeared to be a carrier bag.

Detective Constable Charlie Ward said: "This was obviously a very alarming experience for the victim, but she has managed to assist us to produce a very good efit, which we hope someone will recognise.”
