A 79-year-old cyclist who was killed after being hit by a car has been named as Michael Long.

Mr Long died after being hit by a Renault Megane travelling south on the A22 in Nutley shortly before 10am on Sunday (December 28).

The car driver, a 32-year-old man from East Grinstead, was unhurt.

The A22 was closed for six hours while the incident was dealt with. Police have thanked motorists for their patience and understanding.
