Tributes have been paid to a young father who died in a car crash.

Daniel Osborne's baby daughter Sophie was born just four weeks ago.

Friends and family have paid tribute to the young butcher, who ran a shop in Framfield Road, Uckfield.

Mr Osborne died in a crash when his Land Rover Defender left the road in Furnace Lane, near Horam, at 7am yesterday.

His wife Kayleigh said on Facebook: "Best daddy Sophie could ever have, the day Sophie was born.

"Taken too soon my beautiful husband. I will miss you so much."

Mr Osborne died after his Land Rover collided with a tree after skidding on ice on Monday morning.

Writing on the Facebook page for his butcher's shop DJ Osborne Family Butchers, Mrs Osborne said: "It saddens me beyond belief to inform all our customers that Daniel Osborne, my fantastic husband and loving father to our four week old baby daughter Sophie passed away this morning in a car accident, he hit a sheet of ice and then hit a tree on his way to the shop.

"We will continue trading to keep his legacy alive. Thank you for all your support at this hard time."

Friends and customers paid their respects on social media.

Debra Bishopp said: "Just don't know what to say... Except how sorry I am for you and your family. This is the worst thing ever."

Jeanne Bolton said: "There are no words to express my shock at this shocking news. All my thoughts are with you at this tragic time."
