A NEWSREADER launched an illuminated sculpture trail in the grounds of a stately home.

Former ITN and now BBC broadcaster Katie Derham went to the National Trust property, Nymans, yesterday afternoon.

The trail is made up of 15 separate sculptures by a French collective led by artistic director Pierre Surtel.

Surtel’s work uses a mix of materials and is never found in galleries.

He works in arts centres, universities, industrial sites, barns, churches and schools.

Visitors will not only be able to view the sculptures as part of a visit to Nymans but the gardens will also be open free on Fridays from 5pm to 7pm to see the creations at night.

Lola Muance runs at Nymans in Staplefield Road, Handcross, near Haywards Heath, until Friday, February 27, from 10am to 4pm.

Standard admission is £5.50 to £10.50.
