A MAN in his 60s was hit by a bus and suffered a head injury.

The collision happened in Denmark Villas, Hove, at about 2.30pm today.

Emergency services were dealing with the incident, with the pedestrian treated by ambulance paramedics for minor injuries.

The road was blocked and traffic was diverted.

The accident has happened at the mini-roundabout junction of Cromwell Road as a number 7 Brighton and Hove bus was turning right.

One witness standing near Tesco Express said: "It looks like there are a lot of flashing lights down there."

A nurse on scene helped the man before an ambulance turned up.

He was fully conscious and taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital to be checked over.

At least three passengers were on the bus.

Martin Harris, managing director of Brighton and Hove Bus and Coach Company, said it was "a low-speed impact".

He said: "The driver is OK but shaken up. He's carried out 12 years of service and this is the first time he's experienced an incident like this.

"Our response team said the pedestrian was able to walk himself to the ambulance.

"Any incident involving a collision with a pedestrian is treated very seriously and a detailed investigation will be undertaken."
