Burglars broke into a garage and stole a dark green safe.

The theft happened in Chamberlain Road in Eastbourne between 6.15pm on Monday (January 19) and 8.15am on Tuesday (January 20).

Intruders broke into a business in and left with the dark green safe and its contents.

There was a report of people acting suspiciously in the area between 10pm and midnight and police are keen to speak to three people seen pushing a trolley with a large item in it towards Baldwin Avenue.

PC Dan Toft said: "Break-ins to businesses can have as much impact as a break-in to someone's house, particularly when the business is family owned and managed. People's livelihoods are being put at risk.

"I am keen to speak to anyone who witnessed any suspicious behaviour in the area that night to help us catch those responsible.

"If any business in Eastbourne has any concerns about security they shouldn't hesitate to contact the local policing team and crime prevention advice can be arranged."
