TIPS and advice on how to use hi-tech gadgets are being offered to older people.

The Tea and Teach sessions are run by Brighton-based charity Impact Initiatives, which works to set up and manage projects and services that support people of all ages.

The aim of the programme is to help anyone over 60 who is struggling with their IT, whether it is a mobile phone, tablet, laptop or computer.

The training and advice is offered by staff from the Barclays bank, in North Street, Brighton, as part of the firm’s Digital Eagles scheme.

The weekly sessions will be held every Thursday over the next five weeks at the newly-opened Larches Cafe, in Waldron Avenue, Coldean, Brighton, from 9.30am to 11.30am.

Senior cafe worker Andrew Barnett said: “So many of our customers say how complicated they find technology and just after Christmas so many of them have new phones and tablets which they don’t know how to use.

“This free service is going to be a real treat.”
