THE official exam figures for GCSE and A-levels have been confirmed, and The Argus can reveal the city's league tables.

With a change in the way GCSE English was marked nationally, all but four of the city's school saw a dip in the benchmark of five A* to C grades including English and maths.

Brighton and Hove High School climbed from 94% last year to 97% this time round while The Drive Prep School soared from 27% last year to 80% this year.

Brighton College (100%) and Longhill (50%) held their own achieving the same percentage as last year.

Brighton College topped the GCSE league table, and headteacher Richard Cairns said: “I am delighted to see these great results once again.

"But what really pleases me is that the boys and girls here manage such impressive results while continuing so many other activities, from scoring goals on the hockey pitch and rugby field and performing in bands and orchestras to acting in plays and dancing on stage.

"We believe children achieve their potential only when they are happy so it’s fantastic to see these wonderful results.”
