A MAN who stole house keys from a handbag in an Indian restaurant went to the victims house and took further valuables.

Police have released CCTV images of the man who they want to trace in connection with the theft from Chilli Pickle in Jubilee Street, Brighton, on January 16.

Just after 9pm a man on his mobile phone came and sat behind the woman victim and stole her handbag which contained her mobile phone, keys, wallet and driving licence with her address on along with other items.

This was reported to police.

When the victim and her husband returned to their house in Wilbury Gardens, Hove, some 45 minutes later they realised they had been burgled.

An Apple Macbook Pro and an Apple iPad had been taken from the house.

The man on the CCTV images is described as being aged in his late 20s, 5' 9', of medium build.

He was wearing a black jacket, beige trousers and carrying a large light coloured shoulder bag.

He was seen coming from Carluccio's restaurant in Jubilee Street before crossing the road and entering Chilli Pickles.

Detective Constable Jane Kemp said: "If anyone recognises this man or knows of his whereabouts, please contact police."
