A MAN was left with serious injuries after a car crash in the early hours of this morning.
Police and fire crews were called to the scene on King George VI Avenue, Hove, to reports of one person trapped in the wreck of the the gold Toyota after the car hit a tree.
Firefighters from East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service worked for over an hour to release the driver and he was taken to hospital.
The driver, a 40-year-old local man, was airlifted to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, by the Kent, Surrey and Sussex air ambulance and was detained for treatment.
King George VI Avenue was closed to traffic for two hours while emergency services were at the scene.
