AS he launches his debut album November Storm this weekend Brighton’s Will Mussett talks about the album’s long gestation period, and working with Paolo Nutini producer and songwriter John Fortis.
“I started writing from around the age of 12. I am influenced by anything that is genuine and heartfelt no matter what the genre. Anything with great lyrics and a strong delivery will do for me. Living by the sea helps as well I think.
“I started recording the album in November 2013 with my friend and producer Alex Wells. We have been working together from a young age. We recorded the album at his home studio in Finsbury Park in London. We also recorded the drums in my brother’s bedroom in Brighton!
“John Fortis [who co-wrote Mussett’s song In Loving Memory] was incredibly laid back and easy to work with. He really helped me to develop my vocal melody and lyric writing. I would love to write more with him in the future.
“I hope to continue to write music and make albums. I want to work with as many songwriters and musicians as possible throughout my career and build a good following in the meantime.”
Will Mussett launches November Storm at the Green Door Store, in Trafalgar Arches, Brighton, tomorrow from 7pm.
