BIG blonde wigs, diamond studded denim, and a smattering of gingham, were all must-have attire as American country music fans gathered to imitate an idol.

Participants lined up in their cowboy boots ready to wow judges at a Dolly Parton look-a-like contest at themed Hotel Pelirocco, in Regency Square, Brighton.

There were coats of many colours and it was clear the models had been working from 9 to 5 to perfect their homage toward the country queen.

Thankfully there was not a trouble making Jolene in sight at the event to mark the hotel’s 15th anniversary.

General manager Marko Gibson said the hotel is already big fans of Dolly but her popularity has surged again since her performance at Glastonbury Festival in June.

Charmaine Davies, a comedian who compered the event, said: “The event was so much fun and it was packed out. Everyone was singing along and there was even a couple from Madrid who popped in to watch the show.”

The winner was Miss Dolly Parton.
