Jordan Tettersell may be feeling a little light-headed after his fundraising efforts.

The 22-year-old had his hair shaved off to help send a young mother abroad for treatment for cancer.

Mr Tettersell, who works at the Asda store in Hollingbury, Brighton, heard about Sam Beaven’s plight through his partner, who is a friend of hers.

Mrs Beaven, 29, was diagnosed with cervical cancer while pregnant with her youngest daughter Daisy just over a year ago.

She also has another daughter Bracken, six, and her friends and family are desperately trying to raise £100,000 so she can fly to Mexico for pioneering treatment.

The family were recently given the devastating news the cancer had spread to her brain.

Mr Tettersell, from Peacehaven, said he wanted to do what he could to help and so set up the headshave at the store.

He said: “It is so important that the money is raised so she can get over there as soon as possible.

“There has been a huge amount of support from the community and I decided this would be my contribution.

“My partner was delighted I was trying to do something to help.

“People at work have also been great. One colleague just gave me £50 straight off.

“I’m getting used to the new look now although my daughter Tallulah, who is 18 months old, didn’t recognise me at first.

“She looked at me after it had been done and said ‘Daddy?’ It was quite funny.

“It’s been pretty cold too so I’ve had to wear a hat to keep warm.”

Mr Tettersell is still counting up how much he has raised but expects it to reach about £300.

He said: “It was worth it and I just hope other people will also do what they can to raise the money.”
