A man was cut in the face with a knife during a city centre attack.

The 36-year-old assaulted near East Walls, Chichester, at about 1.35pm on Wednesday. He received medical treatment at St Richards Hospital.

Shortly after 3pm officers arrested a 44-year old man nearby on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. He was later released on police bail until March 24 while further enquiries are made.

The two men are known to each other.
