Police are looking to return a rare bass compass to its owners after recovering it from a car they stopped.
Sussex Police believe the solid brass 'Nauticalia' compass, showing the unique serial number 012021, was stolen in a recent buyrglary somewhere in the county.
Detective Constable Oliver Summers of the West Sussex Priority Crime Team said; "We've traced the manufacturers and they say they have sold only about 45 of the compasses across the South of England
"If you recognise it please contact us via 101@sussex.pnn.police.ukor by calling 101, in either case quoting serial 691 of 19/2."
The compass was found in a car which was stopped by officers in Fort Road, Newhaven on 19 February.
Two men were arrested in the car and have been charged with a house burglary in Kingston, near Lewes, earlier the same day.
