THE grandson of comedy legend Ronnie Corbett is set to follow in his grandfather’s theatrical footsteps.

Dylan Corbett-Bader hopes to kickstart his acting career after appearing as Clifford Bradshaw in BHASVIC’s production of Cabaret earlier this month.

The 17-year-old said: “I love acting, and it is all I have ever really wanted to do.”

Although Ronnie lives in London, Dylan lives with his mother Sophie Corbett, in Brighton.

She runs the Four Candles boutique in Victoria Street.

She said: “Another generation has the stage bug. I am very proud of Dylan. He wants to be an actor and shows signs of becoming a really great performer”.

Dylan discovered acting when he was eight, initially as a ploy to escape science lessons.

He said: “I was in science with my mate and he said that if we signed up to take this acting thing then we could get out of science.

“It was a Lamda (performing school) acting exam. I signed up and I’ve never looked back.”

He has now taken four Lamda exams, and achieved distinction in each of them.

Dylan is currently studying history, English literature and language, drama and theatre studies and is also creating a short film.

He said: “The film will be about three minutes long, and I’m basing it around the modern social cliques and how different people from different social groups interact.”

After finishing at BHASVIC he intends to take a year out to gain acting experience, then apply to drama colleges in London.

Ronnie was unable to see his grandson’s latest acting effort at BHASVIC as he was away filming. However, his wife – Dylan’s grandmother – Anne Hart was in the audience to see him.

She said: “Dylan was a little nervous before the last night’s opening, because the girl playing opposite him as Sally Bowles had laryngitis.

“But the show must go on, and it did.”

The Four Candles

LAST June, Ronnie Corbett opened his daughter Sophie Corbett's new shop.

Her boutique in Victoria Street, Brighton, which sells goods including luxury bohemian clothes and bags, hand-made furniture and jewellery, is called The Four Candles.

It was named in honour of a TV sketch performed by her father and his late partner Ronnie Barker in The Two Ronnies in 1976.

Mr Corbett, seen serving behind the counter in a hardware shop, mistakes Barker’s request for fork handles and produces four candles instead.
