A SEARCH is underway for a missing 62-year-old man who failed to return from a trip to the shops.
David Bishop, of Upperton Road, Eastbourne, was last seen at 9.30am on Tuesday, together with his pet Yorkshire terrier.
It was later discovered that David, who is known to be depressed following the return of cancer first diagnosed in 2011, parked his white Mini at Beachy Head.
An extensive search for Mr Bishop has been made by police, coastguards, lifeboat crews and the Beachy Head chaplains. Hotels, taxis and other businesses have been contacted for any sightings of Mr Bishop.
He is described as white, 5'9", of medium build, clean shaven with brown eyes and receding grey hair. He was last seen wearing a blue anorak, black jogging bottoms, a maroon woollen hat and brown suede shoes.
Inspector Adam Hays, of Sussex Police, said: "Search efforts along the coastline have been hampered by high tides, but these are due to resume at low water this afternoon (Wednesday).
"Meanwhile anyone who may have seen Mr Bishop or who may know of his whereabouts is asked to email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or phone 101, quoting serial 829 of 3/3."
