THERE was a bridal theme to a traditional show this year as schoolgirls strutted their stuff on the catwalk.

Brighton and Hove High School’s sixth formers worked hard to create a big impact at the big annual fashion show last night.

The year 13 students took full control of the show, which has become a stand-out event on the school’s calendar.

This year’s cohort at the Montpellier Road site in Brighton want to at least match and hopefully beat the efforts of their predecessors in 2014.

A spokeswoman for the high school said: “Last year we raised almost £3,000 for charity, which is fabulous.

“The girls are determined to match or exceed this sum this year.”

Clothes were donated by shops across the city and further afield with garments coming from a variety of stores from GAP kids to Ocean Brides.

There was an auction and a raffle, which included prizes such as those all-important driving lessons, perfume, vouchers and evening dresses – maybe an early investment before the summer proms.

Streams of pupils, friends and family paid £5 at the door, all of which was added to the grand fundraising total.

When The Argus went to press, the money was still being totted up.

The school is no stranger to fundraising, and has recently been filming for the Youth in Action Education Awards’ Excursion of the Year category after their trip to Ethiopia last year.

A total of 24 students travelled to Addis Ababa to run a summer school for children and helped a charity that supports women exploited by the illegal sex trade.
