A man was found dead outside a Travelodge this morning.
He was discovered a delivery driver outside the Travelodge in Preston Road, Brighton, at about 6.30am.
The man, who was in his early 40s and whose identity has been established, is understood to be local to Sussex.
He is believed to have been staying at the hotel and is thought to have died in the hours preceding his discovery.
Ambulances and police were sent to the scene.
His death is not being treated as suspicious and the matter has been passed to the coroner's officer.
His next of kin have been informed by police.
A Travelodge spokeswoman said: "We can confirm that the emergency services were called to our Brighton Travelodge on Preston Road at 6.30am on Thursday March 12, 2015.
“We are very sad to confirm that the individual has died, and our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased.”
The spokeswoman described the scene as a “suicide incident”, though causes are normally established at an inquest, to be held at a later date.
