A WOMAN who describes herself as a sex goddess has spoken out to clear her name after a criminal prosecution against her was stopped.

Angela Nangle, 62, was accused of not notifying Brighton and Hove City Council of a change of circumstances while receiving housing benefit after she with- drew £50,000 from a personal injury trust fund.

However Ms Nangle, who received the money in compensation after slipping on a grape in a supermarket and was left unable to support herself because of her injuries, said she had in fact informed the council in 2009.

She said that when the council reviewed her situation in 2013 she had already spent the cash, which is why she did not inform the council again.

Ms Nangle denied the charge against her and the case was due to go to trial. But the prosecution against her has since been stopped.

Ms Nangle said she was portrayed as a “champagne-sodden reprobate” during the case and wanted to clear her name.

The court was told Ms Nangle, also known by her sex worker name Letitcia, had spent the money on “fine wine, fine food, male companionship and escorts”.

However, she told The Argus she only spent the money on essentials that she needed.

Ms Nangle said: “I used the money to buy a new wardrobe to go with my new weight – my injury and incapacitation made my weight balloon but I finally got it back down to normal.

“[I also spent the money on] a modest upgrade of soft furnishings and carpets, travel for my
60th birthday celebration, food, wine and, yes, one male escort – basically things I needed.

“The problem with a male escort, especially this one, is that it is akin to buying a huge slab of chocolate and one square is never going to be enough.”

A council spokeswoman said: “The prosecution had to be stopped because of a legal technicality.

“The formal conclusion of the matter was dealt with at East- bourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday, March 20.

"Neither Miss Nangle nor her solicitors were present at the hearing. This does not stop Brighton and Hove City Council seeking to recover the overpayment from Miss Nangle and the legal processes in connection with this is ongoing.”
