RESIDENTS will be frying really hard to complete an Easter challenge in a bid to drive customers to independent shops.

Sarah Dare is running an Easter egg hunt in Portslade with a twist.

Shoppers will be scrambling around the shops to pick up posters and mystery letters in an attempt to complete a special word to be in with a chance of winning prizes.

Although a light-hearted adventure, the reasons behind it are serious – to encourage residents to use independent shops.

The shops involved are Keehan’s Barber Shop, Shadows hairdressers, Extra Time charity shop, Italian restaurant Seasons, card shop Party Time, Podiatrust, Mishon Mackay estate agents, Anna’s Barbershop, George’s Gems and Cafe An-An – all in Boundary Road or Station Road.

Mishon Mackay are sponsoring the adventure and branch manager Jay Melton-Ball said: “We want to get more involved in the community and promote local business.

"I think Portslade is one of those areas people forget about and it deserves to be recognised – we want to put it on the map.”
