A DISABLED man is fighting for his life in hospital after being attacked in the street.

The 49-year-old, who was on crutches, was kicked and punched to the ground by one of two men after a brief dispute, police said.

Emergency services were called to the incident in St John's Road, St Leonards, outside the Royal pub, at 7.40pm yesterday (Sunday).

The victim was injured in the head and fell to the ground. He was taken by ambulance to King's College Hospital in south London.

Police said the two men ran off in the direction of Western Road.

The suspect believed to have carried out the assault is described as a black man, weraring a black puffa jacket and dark baseball cap.

The second man is described as a black man wearing a dark baseball cap with a white peak.

Detective Inspector Gavin Patch said enquiries were ongoing but it appeared the victim and attackers may be known to each other.
