PETER Shakeshaft, the gatekeeper to one of Scotland's leading business angel funding networks, has been named Scottish dealmaker of the year. Shakeshaft has been running Archangel, which invests in early-stage Scottish companies, for the past four years. During that time, investment levels have risen from (pounds) 2m a year to (pounds) 6m a year, and the fund has backed 30 new enterprises. The judges for the Scottish Business Insider's seventh annual Deals and Dealmakers awards said Shakeshaft had played a leading role in filling the funding gap for early-stage companies. Scottish deal of the year was the flotation of Wolfson Microelectronics.
