SINCE taking over from the legendary Tiger Tim MBE, I've been a busy boy. Whenever the big names come to town, they always make a first stop at Clyde 1 HQ.

I recently had the pleasure of catching up with former Spice Girl Mel C ahead of the release of her new single, I Want Candy.

It's out this week, and appears on the soundtrack to the Carmen Electra comedy, I Want Candy... weird, that!

When I asked Mel about the single, a cover of the 80's Bow Wow Wow classic, she admitted that it doesn't set the tone for the rest of the album.

I can't wait to hear it.

Apart from the new album, Mel is very busy girl, managing her own record label and preparing to head out on a European tour.

She keep in shape with regular trips to the gym and also watches her diet, doing most of her own cooking.

She tells me that fisherman's pie is one of her specialities, along with risotto . . . so in a bid to get a date of any sorts, I asked her if I could have dinner with her.

To my surprise, she said, "If I ever get the opportunity, I'll cook for you!"

The date's already in the diary.

The lady herself is looking quite foxy these days. I'd say she's taken on a new look, so I felt it only appropriate to ask about her Posh Spice's new VB range of jeans and if they were in her wardrobe.

"Actually," she answered, "they're really expensive, I saw them in a shop and thought I might try them on, then I thought, I sent her my album, she can send me some jeans!"

I take it that's a 'no' to Posh Spices' VB Jeans then!

It turns out that Mel C claims to have been bullied in the Spice Girls, and the girls' time together at the top of the charts was all very catty.

What, I asked her, were the chances of a reunion?

"Well," she said guardedly, "You know . . . just look at what's going on."

That'll be the fact that Emma is pregnant, Gerry already has a kid and Mel B is preggers too, so I guess at the moment there's no chance of seeing the girls back in zig-a-zig-a action!

What a lovely girl Mel is - I honestly can't wait to catch up again and give my verdict on that risotto - no fisherman's pie for me, thanks.

Make sure you check in with Times Out next week when I'll be speaking to another lovely girl who wants to have my babies!

Keep it 102.5 Clyde 1, take it easy.
