This talented artist began his career more than three decades ago with appearances on Junior Showtime, followed by a grounding on the tough northern club circuit, but his big break came in 1981 when he was a finalist on London Weekend Television’s Search for a Star, which led to appearances at the London Palladium with Bob Hope and The Talk of the Town. A short time later, Joe received the Variety Club of Britain award as Most Promising Artiste of the Year. Television specials in the UK and USA followed. Joe’s repertoire of voices is endless and includes hundreds of the world’s top singers. However, he is perhaps best known for his impersonation of Shirley Bassey.

NOW in its 14th year, the bi-annual celebration of the city’s food and drink is undergoing another shake-up for 2015. Traditionally Brighton And Hove Food And Drink Festival’s Spring Harvest took place over the Easter holidays. But this year it has been split in two, with the new Easter Weekender followed in the last week of May by the Spring Harvest in association with Brighton Fringe.

PAINTINGS, etchings, wood engravings and sculptures feature in the first major museum retrospective for 40 years of British artist Leon Underwood.

Underwood, who died in 1975, has been described as the precursor of modern sculpture in Britain. This exhibition, with one painting pictured inset, explores his non-Western art influences and his creation of the Brook Green School Of Drawing whose pupils included Henry Moore and Eileen Agar.

FORMER street artist Zeus has drawn on his memories of growing up during the 1980s explosion of club culture for his new exhibition of hand-sculpted over-sized ecstasy pills made from plaster and printed with their own authentic branding.

“I was fascinated by how despite being illegal, branded culture was so integral to this scene – with logos of every type identifying the different pills available,” he says.

“In the same way that people have favourite sweets growing up, people looked for their preferred brand of tablets for their night out.”
