Detectives are trying to identify a man who they want to speak to about a burglary in which a man forced his way into a home in Brighton.

A man forced his way into a flat in Bloomsbury Place, off St George's Road, and threatened the 47-year-old woman inside.

He stole a camera, cash, bank cards and a laptop computer, which he placed in a black rucksack bearing the logo Speech Radio 4 before escaping.

The offender had earlier visited the flat posing as a researcher working for a youth project but had been sent away by the woman.

The attacker was black, 5' 10" and in his early 30s with a dark beard on the underside of his chin. He was wearing a grey hooded top and dark jacket.

CCTV footage recorded in the area shows a man who officers would like to speak to about what happened.

The incident happened on March 23 at around 9am but police have only today released their appeal.

Detective Constable Sarah Townsend said: "We would also like to speak to anyone who has been visited in a similar way in Brighton by a man posing as a researcher.

"If you can identify the man in the CCTV or have any idea where he could be, please contact us."
