A woman has been knocked down by a bus in Brighton City Centre.

The accident involving a Brighton and Hove Bus Company number 46 service towards Southwick happened in Western Road, Brighton, at 2.36pm.

Paramedic crews from South East Coast Ambulance Service have treated the woman - believed to be in her 20s - at the scene outside the Ann Summers store.

Western Road was closed in both directions from the clock tower to Montpelier Road while emergency services dealt with the woman.

Buses and other traffic were being diverted and drivers were asked to avoid the area.

A spokesman for South East Coast Ambulance Service said the woman had been taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital after being placed in a neck colar and on a long board.

A Sussex Police spokeswoman said the pedestrian only suffered "minor injuries".
