One of the problems with finding oil under the Weald is that local householders have no right to the oil found under their house.

Who benefits? Firstly, any oil discovered by the oil company goes on to the world market and the oil company gains in profit. Then the Government gains with licence and tax money with no guarantee that local communities in Sussex will benefit from this bonanza.

The money goes into the Government general pool to pay for all those wasted schemes and conflict zones where we should not be.
