A critically endangered monkey has been born in Sussex as part of a European breeding programme.
The baby boy arrived a month ago at Drusillas Park near Alfriston and is doing well under the watchful eyes of proud parents Kendari and Moteck.
The zoo’s resident Sulawesi crested black macaques are popular with visitors because of their very distinctive bright pink bottoms and punk style hair.
The baby’s older brother Tambo and cousin Kamala are trying to entice the new arrival away from his mum to play but she remains cautiously protective.
She will carry her infant for the next four to five months, nursing him for at least a year.
