A MAN stealing food from a storage unit also took a high-visibility jacket to try and blend in with his surroundings, police said.
The Elite Frozen Foods storage unit in Avis Way, Newhaven, was broken into on Sunday afternoon by a man who emerged with food, a Sussex Police spokesman added.
He is described as white, of medium build, and wearing dark trousers, a dark baseball bat and dark, hooded top bearing a white emblem on the chest.
PC Anna Batchelor said: “This happened in broad daylight and several people were known to be in the area.
"I would urge anyone who recalls the incident or who saw anything suspicious to contact police."
The break-in happened between 2.45pm and 5.45pm.
