STUDENTS at a life saving club can train for a national contest thanks to new watersports equipment.
Brighton Surf Lifesaving Club has been given an ocean ski – a kayak-like boat – by Newhaven surf shop Supernova Surfboards.
It will allow members of the club, which teaches lifeguard skills to people aged between seven and 18-years-old, to train for the British championships of the watersport.
The club’s competition squad recently won two silver medals at the national Still Water championships.
Club chairman Dave Samuel said: “The club is all about teaching youngsters the life skills to access the sea safely as it’s a great natural playground and such a marvellous resource for all.”
Craig Lindfield-Butler, of Supernova, said: “We are really pleased to be able to support this great club as we have witnessed first hand the work they do bringing the youngsters together and promoting such a healthy lifestyle.”
