THRILL seekers are being encouraged to get out of their clothes and onto their bikes for the tenth annual naked bike ride.

The Brighton Naked Bike will return to the city in all its cheeky glory on Sunday June 14.

Organisers expect up to 1,000 riders to assemble at The Level in Brighton from noon, where participants will be encouraged to decorate their bikes and bodies with environmental messages.

The procession, accompanied by a fleet of sound systems, will then head off at 1.30pm through the city centre en route to Black Rock naturist beach.

The event is one of more than 50 naked bike rides around the globe, including ten in the UK.

Organisers say there is a serious message behind all the bare-faced fun in highlighting the vulnerability of cyclists and the environment.

Environmental campaigner and co-organiser Duncan Blinkhorn said the event had become a great Brighton tradition but while the city had made huge progress in becoming less car dependent since the first ride in 2006, there was much to be done nationally and internationally to “avoid climate catastrophe by 2050”.

He added: "The World Naked Bike Ride aims to be fun, empowering and inclusive, with participants invited to ride 'as bare as you dare'.

“It shows how much less vulnerable you can feel when cycling en masse, even if you're stark naked, and offers a cheery vision of what a cycling city can look like."

The event is part of national Bike Week and participation is free.
