YOUTUBE superstars and buskers dressed up as characters from The Muppets have both made it into the latest edition of the Brighton board game.

Comic book creator Paul Stapleton believes he has created the “definitive” version of the BN1 game at the third attempt.

He first adapted his much-loved comic of the same name as a board game almost three years ago and has since sold more than 1,000 copies of the two editions.

Now he is putting the finishing touches to the latest edition of the game to match the ever-changing nature of Brighton and Hove.

Additions to the new edition include a card celebrating Joss Peach who dresses up as Muppet character Rowlf to busk in Brighton. New stop-offs also include the London to Brighton vintage car run and The Basketmakers Arms in Gloucester Road to seek out the messages tucked into the pub’s tobacco tins.

The game has now been extended to beyond the city limits up to Devil’s Dyke and the Jack and Jill windmills.

Out from the last edition goes skateboarding dog Bodhi who became a media star in 2011 for his extreme sports antics before taking out two pedestrians and earning himself an ASBO.

Mr Stapleton said: “I have given the game a new lick of paint, streamlined it and spruced it up a bit.

“The second edition is a couple of years old and some of the things have dated already.

“Things change so much and so quickly in Brighton and there are always new things to lampoon.”

After dreaming up the new characters inspired by the characters of Brighton and Hove, Mr Stapleton has been fine tuning the game by playing it with friends.

He said: “Play testing, that’s the longest part of it really.

“This time round wasn’t so bad because I know it works by now but it’s about testing the cards and finding ways to improve it.

“This is the edition I want everybody to play, I feel it is the definitive one.

“The first one I was finding my feet and the second one was better.

“People with the first two editions should sell them on eBay and buy this one instead.”

The game will be ready in September but customers can pre-order copies from bedsitgames.co.uk.
