A TRAIN that stopped short of its platform led to several cancellations for Bank Holiday travellers.
The 6pm Southern service from Brighton to London Victoria stopped short of its 12-coach mark on platform four at Gatwick Airport yesterday.
Stopping short meant that a carriage and a half was left outside the platform boundary.
Classed as an “operating incident”, Southern said the driver was relieved of duty.
With no driver, the train terminated at Gatwick, leading to cancellations of the 7.27pm Victoria to Brighton service, the 8.27pm Victoria to Brighton service and the 10.04pm Brighton to Victoria service.
A spokesman for Southern told The Argus: “In line with procedure, the driver was relieved of duty pending an investigation into the incident.
“We would like to apologise to passengers who were affected by these cancelled services.”
He added that all passengers got off the train and on to the platform.
